Minority Community for Autism Awareness

MCAA (Minority Community for Autism Awareness) "Building Autism Awareness One Community At A Time" MCAA's first fundraiser was held in 2009 at J. Ashburton Center on the west side of Columbus, Ohio. Founders, Marie Johnson and Nicole Adams have both been touched by autism and are working feverishly to get the message to those who might not be aware that support groups and assistance is available. Columbus' annual 2009 Walk for Autism was held at the Jerome Schottensteins Center. This year there were over 15,000 participants. We raised $762,247. For more information regarding the walk please go to www.walknowforautism.org. For questions, please feel free to contact us through projectrdm@yahoo.com or mc4autaware@yahoo.com

September 27, 2011 - UPDATE: BILL PASSES UNITED STATES SENATE BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT - HEADS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA'S DESK FOR ENACTMENT!

Autism Speaks, today hails the passage of The Combating Autism Reauthorization Act of 2011 which passed moments ago by unanimous consent in the United States Senate. The bill now heads to President Obama's desk for signature and enactment.

We could not have done this without your help! We thank you so much for gladly receiving all of these eblast notices for action but more importantly for taking the time to act at every point along the way!

Now our community has $693 Million in new dedicated Federal funding for autism research and treatment for the next three years.

We need to thank our United States Senators and Members of Congress. We need to ask President Obama to sign this into law by September 30th. We will send you a notice on how you can do this tomorrow.

Congratulations autism community!
Congratulations on a job well done!
