About Us
“Helping today, to build a better tomorrow for at-risk youth” targeting low-income housing communities and inner city neighborhoods in Columbus and surrounding areas. As a State-approved Supplemental Education Provider, Project Redeem uses the tools of tutoring based on Ohio Academic Standards to assist in the education of the youth, and additionally exposing the youth to cultural activities (museums, theater, music), athletic development, healthy eating programs, personal hygiene programs to educate the body, the use of faith-based guidelines to educate the soul and to set values. We believe it is necessary to administer good basic principles so that the participating youth can reflect and use these solid principles throughout their lives. It is the goal of Project Redeem to influence at-risk youth in the following areas:
- Making good choices in difficult situations/conflict mediation and resolution
- To create self esteem and self worth/Character building
- Teaching consequences of choices that are made (good & bad)/Solid faith-based principles
- Peer pressure situations
- How to be creative/Time management
To achieve our goals, we will evaluate our means of delivery by using the tools of tutoring, educational prep-testing, arts (museums, theatre, music), sports programs, healthy eating programs, personal hygiene, and guidelines in goal-setting.
Project Redeem has individuals in place both professional and lay with a “heart” for children. We have teachers, both retired and presently active in the school system available so that every child who comes through the program will have the advantage of after-school & summer academic help, if needed. Each of the volunteers have gone, and are willing to continue to go over & above the “call of duty.” The children have been exposed to places like the Historical Museum to enhance & excite their awareness of history. We have individuals in place to teach personal hygiene, general home economics, including healthy eating habits (sewing, cooking, etc.). We have a physical education/sports program in place to teach actions & reactions in competitive situations, and the benefit of exercise of the body. Project Redeem’s purpose is to minister to mind, body & soul. Therefore, we have and will continue to teach the children value-setting biblical guidelines.
On behalf of the Project Redeem Staff, we thank you for your continuous prayers & support.
